{"id":51,"date":"2012-06-22T20:50:00","date_gmt":"2012-06-22T20:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.appledomination.co.za\/index.php\/2012\/06\/22\/wwdc-12-roundup-new-macbook-pro\/"},"modified":"2015-08-10T16:33:09","modified_gmt":"2015-08-10T16:33:09","slug":"wwdc-12-roundup-new-macbook-pro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.appledomination.co.za\/index.php\/2012\/06\/22\/wwdc-12-roundup-new-macbook-pro\/","title":{"rendered":"WWDC &#8217;12 Roundup: New Macbook Pro"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" trbidi=\"on\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Wn1Feryin2c\/T-TVSCQk_II\/AAAAAAAAA1U\/P0kKP03rJhk\/s1600\/hero.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.appledomination.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/hero.png?resize=320%2C110\" width=\"320\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>If you&#8217;re an avid Apple fan, you will know this last week Monday was the start of the latest WWDC (World Wide Developer&#8217;s Conference) in San Francisco, WWDC &#8217;12.<\/p>\n<p>\nAs per usual, Apple had some great announcements to make, and as always, made the 2 hour long keynote most enjoyable.<\/p>\n<p>\nIf you haven&#8217;t watched it yet, do yourself a favour, and <a href=\"http:\/\/events.apple.com.edgesuite.net\/126pihbedvcoihbefvbhjkbvsefbg\/event\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">check it out<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\n3 big announcements were made, and they are: The new Macbook Pro, Mountain Lion and IOS 6.<\/p>\n<p>\nSo let&#8217;s get started.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n&nbsp;<b>&#8211; The new Macbook Pro &#8211;&nbsp;<\/b><\/div>\n<p>The hero of the day was most definitely the new, next-gen Macbook Pro.<\/p>\n<p>\nApart from the fact that it resembled the Macbook Air very closely in size, the new MBP boasts a lot of new changes from the old one.<\/p>\n<p>\nHere are most of them:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n&nbsp;<b>&#8211; Retina Display &#8211;&nbsp;<\/b><\/div>\n<p>That&#8217;s right.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe new MBP now boasts the same screen technology used by the new iPad, allowing for 5.1 million pixels to fit into the laptop&#8217;s 15.4&#8243; screen. Just to reiterate, that is 5.1 million pixels.<br \/>\nThis allows the MBP to run at the resolution of 2880 by 1800 pixels, an amazing 3 million pixels more than a full HD TV!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-9B-XydI5XJ4\/T-TVUi5WCdI\/AAAAAAAAA1k\/K-o4nEpK_Ec\/s1600\/retina_one_screen.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"201\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.appledomination.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/retina_one_screen.jpg?resize=320%2C201\" width=\"320\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>In case you are not sold on this massive resolution of the retina display, open this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/macbook-pro\/features\/retina.html\" target=\"_blank\">picture<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis picture is the same resolution as the retina display, meaning that on the MBP it will open up beautifully into the screen, without any scrolling. How does yours stack up?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<b>&nbsp;&#8211; All Flash Storage &#8211;&nbsp;<\/b><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-YpjhDumPLDw\/T-TYbTdOoxI\/AAAAAAAAA18\/oyerMsrsVqo\/s1600\/performance.tiff\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"210\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-YpjhDumPLDw\/T-TYbTdOoxI\/AAAAAAAAA18\/oyerMsrsVqo\/s320\/performance.tiff\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a>The new MBP now comes with only flash storage, allowing for incredibly quick responses to the storage. Apps launch quicker, the system starts in seconds and the entire desktop experience is more fluid and smooth.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe 2 variants of the MBP will come with 256GB and 512GB of flash storage, allowing upgrades to 768GB.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<b>&#8211; Long lasting battery &#8211;&nbsp;<\/b><\/div>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s batteries have always been impressive, but this one is ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>\nIt maintains the 7 hour battery life claim, just like the normal MBP&#8217;s, despite the enhanced screen, graphics and processing power.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\n<\/div>\n<p>This will explain why a huge portion of the MBP&#8217;s insides are being taken up by asynchronous battery packs.<br \/>\nThis new 95 Watt battery will give you up to 1000 full charges and discharges, and an amazing 30 days in standby mode.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<b>&nbsp;&#8211; Core i7 &#8211;&nbsp;<\/b><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-QYlYQyRB2B0\/T-TVTtiuKyI\/AAAAAAAAA1c\/DHztaGXkg2I\/s1600\/i7.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"195\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.appledomination.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/i7.jpg?resize=320%2C195\" width=\"320\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\nAs we have been expecting, the MBP comes with the brand new Ivy Bridge Core i7 Intel processors.<br \/>\nBetween its 4 cores, 22nm die, up to 3.7 Ghz in speed and support for up to 16GB of 1600Mhz memory, this a genuine power house of a laptop.
