Drag the app into the Trash, and empty the trash out. Done!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<table cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-65k44fxaivI\/TzjPLU6AB7I\/AAAAAAAAAi0\/Ue7BQj3Mj8I\/s1600\/Delete_default_apps_error.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"179\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.appledomination.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Delete_default_apps_error.png?resize=320%2C179\" width=\"320\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"tr-caption\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Error when trying to delete Default Apps.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>But what if you wanted to remove any of the built-in apps, like Stickies, Safari, Photo Booth etc?<br \/>\nWell if you have tried to remove one of these, you will know that it moans immediately about permissions, and so you cannot remove them.<\/p>\n<p>But you can&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\nThere are 2 ways to do it, sort of an advanced vs easy method to remove these apps.<\/p>\n<p>\n<b>Advanced.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\nOpen Terminal<br \/>\n<a name='more'><\/a><br \/>\nType: <b>cd \/applications\/<\/b><br \/>\nType: <b>sudo rm -rf <i>Stickies.app<\/i>\/<\/b><br \/>\nIt will prompt you for your admin password, enter it, and that&#8217;s it!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<table align=\"center\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-Zj430xDkdII\/TzjPcJMhvXI\/AAAAAAAAAjE\/Fmzk1foWeWs\/s1600\/Delete_default_apps_via_terminal.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"223\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.appledomination.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Delete_default_apps_via_terminal.png?resize=400%2C223\" width=\"400\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"tr-caption\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Delete Apps via Terminal.<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Look in your apps folder now, and you will notice, in this case that Stickies is gone.<br \/>\nNaturally you will change &#8220;stickies.app&#8221; with the app of your choice.<\/p>\n<p>\nIf this is a little advanced for your liking, or you simply prefer the Finder than Terminal, try this out.<\/p>\n<p>\n<b>Easy.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\nOpen Finder.<br \/>\nNavigate to Applications.<\/p>\n<table cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" class=\"tr-caption-container\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-ib8fkBQcqMk\/TzjPTuLAIzI\/AAAAAAAAAi8\/qOtLb-y35k4\/s1600\/Delete_default_apps_get_info.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"179\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.appledomination.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Delete_default_apps_get_info.png?resize=320%2C179\" width=\"320\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"tr-caption\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Get Info for PhotoBooth shows permissions set to Read Only<\/i>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Find the app you want to remove, and get to <b>Get Info<\/b>.<br \/>\nNotice at the bottom, under <b>Sharing &amp; Permissions<\/b>, that the app is setup to not be deleted at all.<br \/>\nClick on the lock button on the bottom right, and yo will now be able to change the permissions.<br \/>\nChange your user account, the admin account, to be able to<b> Read &amp; Write<\/b>.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s it, done!<br \/>\nNow try drag your app to the trash, and Mac OS X will be happy to do it for you.<\/p>\n<p>\nRemember, it is not recommended to go ahead and remove <i>some<\/i> of these default apps, especially one like Safari, that actually affects the running of the system.
