Avoid the Yantoo Trojan

Do not fall prey to the latest Trojan doing the rounds on the interwebs!

The Yantoo Trojan is most definitely not new, as it's been doing to rounds since the beginning of the year.

The reason why it is being treated as a Trojan and not a Virus is because it poses as a media player browser plugin, reporting that it will play almost all media file types for you, and then obviously doesn't.

Luckily, it is not a destructive Trojan, but merely Adware-related.
Once installed, it splashes ads over your favourite websites.

Create recovery disks for your Mac, the easy way.

Quite a while ago I wrote about how to create OS X Recovery Disks for Lion.

The procedure has been identical for Mountain Lion and it simply could not be easier...until now, that is.

Guillaume Gete has created an even simpler automated AppleScript with a simple interface that will make the bootable disk for you, called Lion DiskMaker.

How Apple are you?

Here I was thinking I was a hardcore Apple Fanboy...
Apparently a score of 65 says I got kicked to the curb, thanks to this infographic from MacKeeper

Share your scores!
Anyone get points from number 8 onwards? :)

Stylish wood-finish for your Mac keyboards

We all love the stylish aluminium finish on our Mac keyboards.
But if you feel like something a little different, try out Lazerwood Keys from Lazerwood Industries.

These are just as stylish as the original keys, but with a gorgeous wood-finish.

Whether you use a wireless, extended or simply your MacBook Pro keyboard, there is the perfect wood-finish for you.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the device, the Mac Book Airs cannot use these awesome keyboard finishes.

Add/Remove a Credit Card from your iTunes Account

With all the stories hitting the internet these last 2 weeks of accidental App or in-App purchases, racking up a sweet few thousand Dollars, I thought it only appropriate to inform everyone about how to manage your payment method for your iTunes account.

In order to change your payment method to, or from a credit card, simply open up iTunes.

Maximise your life with free apps

So many people that I speak to are disappointed with the App Store since purchasing their new iPad or Mac, simply because all the "good stuff" costs money, and very few (good) things are free.

Now I have no problem with this, supporting developers' hard work, but of course, I am also going to jump at any free promotion of apps in the same breath.

When I then tell said people about these free app promotions, I get that very sad look. Glassy eyes, complete confusion and information overload.

As such, I have been meaning to write this article for ages, to help everyone out there to know how to maximise on any free app promotions that might be happening at any given time.

"Air Drop" for iOS

If you are a Mac user, at any level, you will know about and love one of the new features that were introduced with Lion, Air Drop.

The ability to simply share files with friends and colleagues over a secure, ad-hoc wireless network negates the need to access/share folders, send chunky emails or work with FTP servers.

Thankfully, twomanshow has created an app that allows the same functionality with your iOS devices.
